| If you really want to test your playing ability, play with your eyes closed. What I recommend you do is pick something that you feel pretty comfortable playing and try playing it with your eyes closed. As soon as you make a mistake, stop and work on it (with your eyes open). Practice that one little thing for 5-10 minutes, then close your eyes and try it again. Repeat that process. It’s pretty simple, but can be quite effective for rooting out problems. Closing your eyes is a great way to get feedback on your playing, and you might find out there are things you need to work on that you didn’t realize. Let me know how it goes.
